Race and ethnicity in the United States Census, as defined by the United States Census Bureau and the Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB), are self-identification data items in which residents choose the race or races with which they most closely identify, and indicate whether or not they are of Hispanic or Latino origin (ethnicity). The racial categories represent a social-political construct designed for the race or races that respondents consider themselves to be and "generally reflect a social definition of race recognized in this country." The OMB defines the concept of race as outlined for the US Census as not "scientific or anthropological" and takes into account "social and cultural characteristics as well as ancestry" using "appropriate scientific methodologies" but not "primarily biological or genetic in reference." Race and ethnicity are considered separate and distinct identities, with Hispanic or Latino origin asked as a separate question. Thus, in addition to their race or races, all respondents are categorized by membership in one of two ethnicities, which are "Hispanic or Latino" and "Not Hispanic or Latino". In 1997, OMB issued a Federal Register Notice which provided revised racial and ethnic definitions. Census 2000From Wikipedia under the

Abortion is legal through all nine months of pregnancy in the United States. The infamous Roe v. Wade case legalized abortion throughout the United States. The lesser-known companion case, Doe v. Bolton, defined the "health" exception. This case solidified Roe in allowing abortion through all nine months if the pregnancy threatens the life or health of the mother. The vague word used here is "health." What does "health" mean to you? Doe v. Well, I couldn't resist answering, but I didn't have time to read your book. Basically, I assume you are saying you are pro life. That's good. It disgusts me when I hear people say that "it's my body and I have a right to do what I want to it." Well, you're right! Do whatever you want to your body - tattoos, multiple piercings, unprotected sex, suicide, etc - nobody cares. But you have absolutely no right to kill another human who happens to be living inside your body. That's murder. Let's say I'm walking down the street and someone decides to hitch a ride on my back. That doesn't give me the right to kill the person. The baby is not 'yours'. You are simply a vehicle for bringing a person into the world. If we are to allow killing of… [cont.] Answered by theshadowknows - Sun Jun 8 21:48:27 2008 Why are people so ignorant about race and human evolution?

If you're going to support the arguement that the races are equal, then using biased information that praises blacks is just going to contradict your point. Unless your point is that blacks are superior to other races. why do you need to copy/paste the study that focuses solely on race? Its no better than saying "whites are the best race". Most people in this country today are mixed race, and have mixed heritage. So when you call on whites you are just calling on yourself, because I doubt it you're 100% African. Also the issue of education and diploma holding is a social issue, not a biological issue. Americans are lazy. African immigrants are more likely to succeed because most of them come from an underpriveledged country, and know… [cont.] Answered by andre - Wed Dec 24 10:47:41 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "African American (U.S. Census)" |
