Australian UFO wave 12. 8 sec - May 30, 2008. FICTIONAL REPORT: 5th July 2006, Evening, St. Marys, New South Wales. Four witnesses. Two children reportedly saw orange balls of light over the mountains. They eventually convinced their father and elder brother to come outside with the video camera, and this is what they filmed. The two children didn't see the disc, and the adults never saw the orange balls of light! NOTE: the object almost completely vanishes while still in frame. REALITY: This was going to be a much longer shot, but on my trip to New South Wales I lost my tripod, and was forced to shoot handheld. The next few years saw the decommissioning​ of steam maintenance facilities, including workshops, loco depots, water storage tanks and a host of other infrastructure associated with the steam era. Successively over the next decade or so, many branch lines were closed, as well as a number of cross country routes that linked the main arteries or interstate lines. In this second of the "Steam in New South Wales" series, we have the opportunity to again look back at steam workings of the 1960's. Contemporary scenes are shown to show comparison with what was once a busy and labour intensive rail system.
