Who is LocalColorArt.com?
For starters, "we" is just me, Kurtis Karr. I am the sole owner, designer and programmer of the website, LocalColorArt.com. This site is one of many within the Karr Network, which I also own and operate.
About Me
Maintaining my collection of sites is really just a part-time preoccupation for me. I suppose I do it more out of sheer obsession than anything else (I certainly can't brag about the meager advertising income my sites generate). The genesis of my obsession was a single small personal site in 1994. As time went by, I found the complex process of manually coding and designing rather addictive and started 'collecting' domains which sparked my imagination. Through the years, I developed dozens of independent sites on topics ranging from art to zoology. I discovered, however, that as my domain portfolio grew, it became increasingly tedious to manually update my sites with fresh new content. I therefore decided to focus my efforts on sifting, consolidating and reorganizing the best information that was already available on the web. It is my goal to keep this site informative, on-topic and family-friendly. I employ numerous filters of my own design to weed out most of the irrelevant and inappropriate information. I don't claim that my programming skills are perfect, however. Some weirdness sometimes slips through the cracks and probably always will. This site is rather large, it's content is constantly evolving and my time is very limited. I can't possibly manually edit every page to ensure that it always contains appropriate material. So browse at your own risk. And if you don't like something you find, please don't take offense. It is very probably unintential and I am perpetually working to make sure fewer such accidents occur.Is This a Domain Parking Site?
Technically no, but that really all depends on your definition or point of view. I consider it to be much more advanced than an ordinary parking site. Most parking sites are nothing more than landing pages with advertising links. They provide little or no useful information for their visitors. This might be fine for the short term but it gives visitors no reason to return. Conversely, I try to provide my visitors with all of the relevant information they were searching for in the first place. I include relatively few advertising links on my pages and none of the annoying popups. This might decrease my revenues in the short term with lower advertising click-through rates but I anticipate the overall traffic from return visitors will eventually make up for it.Contact Information

Link Requests: I'm sorry, but I do not add link requests. I previously used a reciprocal link system on this site but it was constantly being besieged by spammers of the worst variety. I was finally forced to make the difficult decision to eliminate it entirely or continue to wage a desperate war against the burgeoning hordes of ne'er-do-wells determined to bypass my safeguards. Logic prevailed.
So for now, the best way to get listed on this site (and thousands of others) is to submit your site to the Open Directory Project under it's most appropriate category. When your site is listed in the ODP it will be listed here as well.Advertising: If you would like to advertise on this site, please Sign up for Google AdWords. Nearly all of the advertising on this site is handled through them.
Factual Errors: The most common complaints I receive are about an inaccuracy within an incoming data feed. There is practically nothing I can do about the accuracy of information returned from the various data sources I use. Other than automatically scanning and filtering out certain 'bad' words or phrases, the gist of the content is quite beyond my control. If you believe there is a factual error in one of these feeds,
please do not contact me . Instead, contact the site from which this information originated (each source is properly attributed and conveniently linked). Once, the correction is posted on the original site, the correction should automatically appear on my site (and all others using the same data).
Many of the items on my site have an associated removal link. If you so desire, you may use this link to remove the entire item in question. This solution, however, works only for this particular site. You will still need to edit the original source of the information if you wish to change any sites other than my own.Blocked Searches: There are many searches that can't be performed on this site. These searches will often return a blank page or show a '403 Forbidden' error. This redirection is intentional and not a programming error. Most of the searches triggering this behavior are what would ordinarily be called 'bad' words or phrases but some of them are not. Although some of the blocked words or phrases may be completely benign in and of themselves, they commonly return undesirable content when used to perform a search. My filters might be overzealous at times but I much prefer to err on the side of caution. Please don't contact me about this unless you honestly can't figure out why your search may have been blocked.
On the other hand, if there are any undesirable words or content you believe may have been missed by my filters, please let me know so I can consider amending my list.Copyright Concerns: Please bear in mind that short, properly attributed quotes or snippets of 300 words or less do not usually violate copyrights because they are generally considered to be fair use (otherwise search engines would be illegal). There are a few exceptions, of course. So, if there is any section of text on this site which you sincerely believe to violate a copyright, please alert me immediately. Or, if you prefer, you may use the associated removal link where available to delete the content yourself.
Thumbnail Images: U.S. case law [1] [2] has established that displaying appropriately linked thumbnails of copyrighted images on websites is fair use. So if you want to complain about a copyright being violated by a thumbnail image, please don't - because it's not.
You may, however, use the removal link associated with the thumbnail if it continues to cause you undue concern.Preventing Indexing: If you are the owner of a website and do not wish for certain portions of your site to be indexed in the first place please consider using a robots.txt file in your main directory. All of my sources obey the robot exclusion protocol.
Removing Items: Many sections such as videos, images, news and blogs include links which allow you to remove inappropriate items from this site. If you believe any item is inappropriate or irrelevant to the page topic please use the associated removal link to delete the item.
These removal links only work from the most recent version of the page. If they don't seem to be functioning properly, you are probably viewing an older page from your browser's cache. Please delete the page from your temporary internet files folder, reload the page to get the most recent version and try the removal link again.
