What are the British laws regarding selling items for charity?
Q. I am trying to think of different ways raise money for a certain charity. I had thought about making things to sell, but I'm uncertain about the British laws about this area. Can any one enlighten me, please?

A. The best thing to do is to contact the charity you want to raise money for and ask them for advice. I did this last year and the charity in question sent me a letter verifying that I was raising money on their behalf. I was then able to show this letter to businesses etc that I was asking for money. I had to fill in forms saying what I was doing to raise the money, give them a date when I would be done etc. Another thing you can do is set up a page on justgiving.com to ask for donations to the specified charity but you can't sell items that way.

What are some good, meaningful lines from british literature or poetry?
Q. I am doing a school project that involves selecting lines from British literature and poetry. I have to pick lines from novels, poems, short stories and essays by British writers from throughout the eras. At the moment I only have 10 lines and I could use some help selecting some more. If anyone has anything in mind, I would be very grateful! Thanks!

How do i get British gas to send me a smart card for my gas?
Q. I moved in to my house over a month ago and despite about ten long phone calls and a three page complaint letter British gas have still not sent me a card so i can pay money on to the pre payment meter. The gas keeps running out and an engineer has to keep visiting to put emergency credit on. Its driving me mad. I'm thinking of taking my complaint to energywatch.

A. I had this problem for weeks on end, the most anoying thing is that you have to let your meter get to below a certain amount of credit before you can call him then it takes him hours to get there. Have a word with the meter guy next time he calls - the one who came to me said it was often a problem that took ages to sort out, so he put me 50 credit on so it would last. I think the best thing is to switch from british gas. Good luck!
