From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A comic book (often shortened to simply comic and sometimes called a funny book, comic paper or comic magazine) is a magazine made up of narrative artwork, often accompanied by dialog (usually in word balloons, emblematic of the comic book artform) and often including brief descriptive prose. The first comic book appeared in the United States of America in 1934, reprinting the earlier newspaper comic strips, which established many of the story-telling devices used in comics. The term "comic book" arose because the first comic books reprinted humor comic strips, but despite their name, comic books do not necessarily operate in humorous mode; most modern comic books tell stories in a variety of genres. The Japanese and European comic book markets demonstrate this clearly. In the United States the super-hero genre dominates the market, even though other genres also exist. From Wikipedia under the

Q. i am looking to subscribe to one of the marvel comic books. i am a fan of batman and i collect batman comic books but ever since i started playing marvel ultimate alliance 2 i have become interested in marvel. i have been thinking about thor, spider man, captain america or new avengers but the thing is that i don't know much about marvel. what comic book would should i get? and will the new avengers cover all the super heroes i mentioned? Asked by concord4512 - Sun Sep 27 22:41:01 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. New Avengers. That's the title that spawns every crossover (for better or worse) in Marvel these days. And Marvel will have no problem packing its roster with hot-selling heroes if the lineup looks stale. But Cap's dead, Thor may or may not be around, and I'm not sure whether Hulk is Red, Green, or Grey these days. The only titles in the Marvel universe with the Marvel characters still lively are the Marvel Adventures lineup. They're "for all ages," meaning that they're worthless, involve no crossovers, and take no risks. ...But I promise they're fun and they won't kill off your favorite superhero to cause a spike in sales. Answered by Nick - Tue Sep 29 07:09:46 2009 Are comic books kid safe to read? Is there a rating body out there? Q. I am concerned that what my son reads in comics are too violent. If TV shows gets rated on how mature a reader needs to be then it probably needs to be the same for comic books too. Is there a site i can go to that would have this information? Asked by Von - Wed Oct 21 15:41:25 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. I know Marvel has a rating system in place for their comics, and I believe many other comics do as well. If your son is purchasing comics in a comic shop, you should take a stroll in there as well (or a phone call) and ask about the titles your son reads. Most comic shops are run by the owners themselves and are very knowledgeable and willing to help. Or you could try google searching the titles for yourself and see what kind of hits are generated from that and judge accordingly. Keep in mind also there are few comics a young boy could pick up that would have as much violence, nudity, or inappropriate language as a rated R movie. Answered by Kayla - Wed Oct 21 15:53:38 2009 Should people read comic books rather than watching television?
Q. Bec cartoons on televisions are limited in numbers of every different shows in every same titles as won't make anymore. Also, some titles of cartoons stop playing on tvs anymore. But comic books about them forever make more different subjects of every same titles and also forever make more every same titles. plus also, this is the same things for real-life movies, not cartoons, in tvs vs. comic books.
