The 'mask' is metaphorical and literal. The narrator is hiding beind a mask. 'Devils Smity'- heat, passion, destruction. 'laugh at me'- jealousy. Lots of alliteration - 'grind, mash'. The violent language reflects the narrators state of mind. She will give all her money for the poison, greed and corruption. 'You may kiss me' - she has lost her morals, she descends into madness. 'brush this dust off' - guilt, the literal dust and also the possibility of being caught. Answered by Dan _ - Thu Nov 6 16:25:39 2008 Why is Joshua's name accepted when Jehovah(or Yahweh) isnt?
Q. When i compared the name Joshua (YHVSH) to Jehovah (YHVH or Yahweh) the first three characters are the same, but nobody discredits Joshua as being an actual name when Jehovah is disregarded as Yahweh OR not even pronounced at all and just kept at yhvh or yhwh. check out this link and it takes you to a hebrew bible, click on joshua. jehovah comes out in joshua 1:1 two times. compare the two names. www.fourmilab.ch/etexts/w ww/hebrew/Bible/ note for people that dont know the Hebrew alphabet. Honestly I think the reason for this, is because of the fear of God's name. Since so many people think that God's name is too holy and should not be spoken aloud, that it shouldn't be written either. So in translating the Bible, they removed it. Thus giving everyone today the misconception that Jehovah or Yahweh is not God's name. Since Hebrew was written without vowels we can only guess what any of those names are, from Joshua (Jsh) to Jehovah (Jhvh). Even Jesus' name we can't say we know for sure. These are only guesses of a name said in a different language. Just like how your name would be different in another language.
