GNU Free Documentation License What are the shares of the federal reserve bank good for ? Q. There are share of the federal reserve banks not publicly traded held by private people. Those shares do not entitle them to any kind of profit, due to the nature of the federal reserve bank. What are those shares good for then ? Do they hold any kind of power, or is it just awesome to have shares of the federal reserve bank ? Shucks so it is better if money is being backed up by something thats shiny instead of the fruits and labour of a modern society ? When the Fed was first chartered in 1913, the branches had far more autonomy and the branch shareholders had far more power. The districts were like little independent monetary fiefdoms. But that all changed with the Bank Act of 1935. Absolute power over the system was given to the newly formed "Board of Governors" and the branches were relegated to day-to-day operations. Hi, I've been working for a court reporting firm who is not local to me, however, payment for this work has not been made; and now there is no response to email asking when I can expect payment. There is supposedly a new law that requires companies who contract over the net to abide by contract payment terms or be in violation of this Federal statute. Does anyone know what the name of the new Federal statute is? Thanks. Asked by mssurfer - Tue Oct 23 15:09:15 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Call the state labor board. Q. They just announced a Federal Credit Union open to anyone in my city (rather than one tied to a specific company). So What is the difference between a Federal Credit Union and a Bank? Are there any advantages and/or disadvantages to a Federal Credit Union over a Bank? Asked by Capt Crasher - Thu May 17 09:55:23 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Credit unions provide the same kinds of services that banks do. You can open a checking account, buy a certificate of deposit and get a loan. Some will even sell you stocks, and offer you a safe-deposit box. Generally, if it carries National Credit Union Administration insurance, a credit union is a good place to take your business. For-profit banks are in the business of making money for their shareholders. Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that are supposed to focus on service and savings for their members.
