People who travel and stay away from home for more than a day need lodging for sleep, rest, safety, shelter from cold temperatures or rain, storage of luggage and access to common household functions. Lodging is done in a hotel, hostel or hostal, a private home (commercial, i.e. a bed and breakfast, a guest house, a vacation rental, or non-commercially, with members of hospitality services or in the home of friends), in a tent, caravan/camper (often on a campsite). In addition there are make-shift solutions. Sleeping is typically done lying in a bed, or more generally on a soft surface, such as an air mattress, a couch, etc. Some trains have sleeping cars. Sometimes people sleep sitting, because lying is not possible, such as in a train (if not in a sleeping car), a bus, a seat in a waiting room or a bench on the street or in a park. Inclinable seats allow something between sitting and lying. Whether lying on a row of seats is possible and comfortable depends on the presence of arm rests, and whether they can be moved up. In some public places, lying would be possible, but is not permitted. From Wikipedia under the

I know beggars can't be choosers but I don't want to stay where my girlfriend and I are scared for our lives or are sleeping with roaches. I don't mind to pay around $100 per night and stay outside of the city. Any help? Asked by Alex Rogers - Sat Dec 15 02:04:01 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Try the Park Savoy Hotel on W. 58th Street (link below). The rooms are clean, there's daily maid/linen service, the location is to die for -- walking distance of Central Park and Times Square, near Carnegie Hall; and it's cheap ($89 a night last I heard). But you will need to book way in advance. Have fun in the City! Answered by mrsbeasley - Sat Dec 15 16:20:49 2007 Im traveling to Japan for about 30 days. How much should I budget to spend everyday including lodging? Q. I am not looking to stay in 4 star hotels every night and I plan on seeing as much of Japan as possible. I have purchased the airline tickets already. Asked by Roblento - Tue Sep 15 19:00:32 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. I now live in Guam but I lived in Japan for about ten years. I really do not think Japan is all that expensive compared to the prices I am paying now. Lodging is, indeed, very expensive, however, as long as you are not looking for five star treatment things really are not all that expensive. Let's say you want to buy a bottle of soda. In the states some places sell a bottle for $1.50 some for $1.39, in Japan it is almost always 150 yen out of a vending machine. People make a lot out of prices in Japan but it really depends on your lifestyle. It depends also how much of a nickel and dime spender you are. If you only buy the stuff you really want and need and stay away from impulse buying it is really not that much different than the US or… [cont.] Answered by tachyonblade - Fri Sep 18 05:02:40 2009 What is the best lodging in San Antonio, TX for visiting a BMT grad?
Q. I'm flying down to San Antonio in 2 weeks for my boyfriend's graduation. I don't have a lot of money, I'm 23 and I'm a student, but I don't want to stay anywhere sketchy. Which hotels are close to Lackland Air Base? And how do I find transportation to the base for all of the graduation events? Asked by Danielle - Sun Feb 15 02:43:42 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. There is a Holiday Inn right outside of the base on the North side. It has the interior corridor setup (safer). They have a complimentary shuttle, but I would check and see if they can take you on base. That side of town is generally good.
