I think the only pitch that should be allowed in the major leagues is the knuckleball. Do you agree?
Q. Wakefield and that one guy from Seattle have the right idea. They get up there and throw a goofy, confusing pitch. Everyone should learn it and throw it. It would make major league baseball more goofy and powerful. And the pitchers would last forever because all they will do is throw the knuckleball and their arms will last a long time.R.A. Dickey. That's the guy from Seattle's name.

Q. There are other countries that also have good baseball teams but I don't see them facing the champions on Major Leagues. Wouldn't be better to call this Champioship the North American Championship?

A. The World Series is the only true world-sporting event, where the best team plays in the best league with the best players. Unlike the European Football leagues, they have a league for each country, and elite teams in it so since they don t all play against each other you may never actually know who the best team is. In baseball, the cream raises to the top so to speak and the best team wins. Because MLB will and does find the best players from around the world and have them play in the league, below is a list of some countries that have had players play in the World Series. Aruba, Austria, Australia, Bahamas, Colombia, Cuba, Curacao, Czechoslovakia, Dominican Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy,… [cont.]

Q. How were the major league baseball teams split into the american and national leagues?
Asked by bluefly722 - Thu Apr 6 15:55:36 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The NL was the first league, playing in the late 1800s. A bunch of teams formed the AL in 1900-1901 as a rival league. As baseball expanded, they added teams where it made the most sense. For instance, the Seattle Mariners are in the AL because the old Seattle Pilots were in the AL. In other cases, an area (like L.A.) would already have an NL team, so they added an AL team (the Angels) because they didn't want two teams in the same league so close together. That's why the two Florida teams are in different leagues, for instance.

Why is it that today's major league pitchers need five days of rest between starts? Did Negro Leagues rest?
Q. I've heard stories of Negro League pitchers pitching both halves of a double header.
Asked by rg231284 - Tue Apr 29 13:29:11 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Not just in the Negro leagues, but in the MLB as well, pitchers in the old days would pitch more, and almost every starter would pitch out of the bullpen when they were not starting. Now, there are specialty pitchers because team can afford to pay guys to do a limited role, so starters don't have to be available every day. Starters still throw every day except the day after their start, but they throw side sessions, bullpen session, and flat hat drills on there off days. Also, through trial and error and medical research, it has been determined that MLB pitchers are more effective with 4 days rest.

How many players from the 2003 MLB draft (drafted in 2003) are in the Major Leagues now?
Q. In other words, I have a friend who is really good at baseball. He is a left-handed pitcher who throws around 89 with a few other pitches. He had a successful career in high school, and is planning on playing for three years in college. If he gets drafted, obviously he would take the once in a lifetime opporunity. However, I do not think it is worth trying. I mean, there are about 300 million Americans, and if you are one of the lucky 1,000 that does get drafted, you have to make it through single, double, and triple A. ALso, you can not get hurt. So i would like to know out of the 1000 or so drafted in 2003 or any specific year (2000-2006) are now in the majors. Also, if you could name names, that would be great. Minor leaguers are paid a decent amount of money, and colleges will still accept him a few years.A lot of ballclubs offer to pay for student's college education if they don't make it with the club. So he will get a college education. The risk of injury is the same in college as the pros. So, that makes no difference. It would be better to talk about this after he gets drafted, and how high.
