How do I prevent drips and runs while staining or varnishing unfinished furniture?
Q. I enjoy finishing unfinished furniture. I am currently in the process of staining 2x4 boards for a picnic table. I have my boards on sawhorses. However, no matter how careful I am, I end up with the stain running to the opposite side. I can't turn it over to brush it out because the top is still wet. After it dries and I turn it over, I have ugly runs on the unfinished side, which are nearly impossible to cover. What can I do to prevent this?

A. You're using too much stain, Sandy. First, make sure the pigment is well stirred, then put on less at a time. You might have to do two coats that way, but it will look much better at the end. I leave my stir stick tight in the can since the pigment tends to sink quickly and I get uneven results. Another thing you could do is wear good latex gloves, and apply your stain with a cloth instead of a brush. Then you could constantly wipe as you apply. Set a piece of scrap plywood on top of your horses, and stand the boards up as you apply the stain, working all the way around them.

How can I stop getting runs in my tights?
Q. I seem to get runs in my tights and leggings relatively frequently, and I don't know why. My mother has pointed out that I tend to "rake them up" my legs with my nails, while I should be using the pads of my fingers. My nails are very short, though, so I'm not sure about this. Anyway, I was wondering: What is the proper way to adjust one's tights? How long should a pair of tights be expected to last, assuming they are good quality? Should one avoid using one's nails completely while adjusting a pair of tights? Are there any particular brands/materials that last longer? Thank you for your time. Oh, and before I forget: can tights be repaired with a regular sewing kit?

A. buy them larger cause then there are more fabrics to stretch when ur sitting, standing, running or whatever. Be careful when putting them on, of course don't pull on them like a brute with the nails but grab them altogether if u know what I mean. Also you can put clear old nail varnish on where it's broken, it'll prevent them from breaking even more

Q. My friend told me that on the sims 2 if you look through the telescope and get abducted by aliens they might get adopted by them. Is that true? Also when my teen runs away do they return?
