How does a storage heater work with only one dial to set the output.?
Q. Have moved into a new flat and the livingroom has a storage heater. It has 2 electrical supplies into it, one from a dual supply consumer unit and the other from the normal consumer unit. This heater has a built in convector which is turned off (small switch on the side). The heater has only one dial to set the output, nothing to control the input. It is always very warm, even set to minimum all the time and my first elec bill laid me flat on my back. How is the input set??? It is a Dimplex FCXA and i cant find info for this model on the net, and of course the info i can find on storage heaters tells me there should be 2 dials, input and output. Can anyone give me a good answer please, Thanks. Rum_the_cat.

A. Sound like they're faulty. Are you eligible for a grant and have another source of central heating put in? Storage heaters are notouriously expense to run and you need to be on the economy seven tariff and do all your washing and cooking at night to even out the cost. I think the ones you have have been discontinued. I'd contact Dimplex go to www.dimplex.de/english for more info. and this site:- www.government-grants.co. uk/gas-oil-central-heatin g-grants.shtml Hope this helps and have a nice day.

What molecule is primarily used for energy storage in the body?
Q. What molecule is primarily used for energy storage in the body? I've gotten a few different answers and was hoping there'd be an authority on the subject who can settle it.

A. In humans there are two. Glycogen, which is a long chain carbohydrate made by polymerising glucose molecules together, is stored in the liver and, in small amounts, in the muscles. It provides a fast boost of energy for short intense exercise. When your glycogen reserves run out, the body switches to using fat, which takes longer to turn into glucose. This is known by athletes as "hitting the wall". You feel really tired about 20-30 minutes into your run, when your body switches over to fat catabolism. Fat is the other main group of molecules which the body uses to store energy. It is very energy dense, because fat doesn't need to be stabilised with water, whereas carbohydrates do. Therefore fat uses less volume to store the same amount… [cont.]

Benefits of Climate Control Storage in the Winter?
Q. I am currently looking into storage options from Dec-Feb in Maryland. Do I need to get climate control storage? The temps teeter around freezing to just above freezing this time of year. Most of the comments I have seen regarding the need for climate control involve summer heat and humidity, which really does not apply in the winter. I am storing furniture, clothes, appliances, dishes, etc..Basically my whole house minus everyday things we'll need during that time.

A. Depends on what you are storing. I've stored things that have exploded in the freezing temperatures that I never expected would. Anything that has liquid in it, even lotions, snowglobes, home improvement products (craft paint) cleaners, etc. can freeze and burst the containers.
