From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Winter is one of the four seasons of temperate zones. In many countries, winter officially begins on the day of the year which has fewest hours of daylight, the winter solstice, and ends on the following equinox. In the Northern Hemisphere, depending on the year, this corresponds to the period between December 20 and 21 and March 20 or 21. It marks the transition between autumn and spring. In many countries in the Southern Hemisphere, including Australia , New Zealand and South Africa, winter begins on 1 June and ends on 31 August. From a meteorological perspective, winter is the season with the shortest days and the lowest average temperatures. It has colder weather and, especially in the higher latitudes or altitudes, snow and ice. The coldest average temperatures of the season are typically experienced in January in the Northern Hemisphere and in June or July in the Southern Hemisphere. I have a 1999 Pontiac grand am. Any idea of how much the winter tires will cost? Please let me know! Thanks Im getting them wholesale. Asked by Kitty - Wed Oct 29 08:50:06 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well if you are getting them wholesale you should tell us what they are worth. I`m sure you are aware that there are different types of winter tires and that the price will also vary . You can go to Canadian Tire and get a cheap tire for $49 or you can get a Michelin for $180. And what makes you so special that you think you are getting a wholesale price? Answered by talon699 - Wed Oct 29 10:00:48 2008 How do you deal with the winter in Toronto? Q. I'll be migrating to Canada soon, most probably in Toronto. I keep hearing about how difficult the winters can be in Toronto and coming from a tropical Asian country, I am very much concerned. When it gets real bad, how does it affect transportation (within the city), schools and offices? Can it get so bad that it can actually shut down the city? What winter clothing should I consider acquiring? How reliable are the weather forecasts? Thanks in advance for your inputs. Asked by 77lions - Wed Feb 28 10:00:07 2007 - - 14 Answers - 1 Comments A. Winter is not that bad. Dress warm and you'll be fine. Hat/gloves/winter coat, maybe a scarf. The only time I remember it being really bad was when they called in the army to remove the snow...LOL. You'll definitely notice a big difference in climate from a tropical Asian country, but you'll get used to it. Toronto is a great city. I am sorry we cant do that..this is for about a couple of weekends at the most. thank you for your answer though Asked by bball3mvp33 - Tue Sep 25 17:50:08 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. This may sound like a strange question for someone in Buffalo; but have you tried snow camping. Not just camping in the snow but building snow caves and have more of a winter survival skill adventure. I did this with about 23 youth in RI several years ago. I spent 2 months giving weekly classes to our youth on wilderness survival with the proviso that if they missed more than one class they could not attend. Not a one of them missed more than 1 class and the majority attended all classes. Answered by TxBlackpot - Tue Sep 25 18:06:11 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "winter" |
